Biography

Lisa is a senior lecturer in tourism and course leader for tourism and cruise undergraduate programmes at Solent University. She worked in the tourism industry before entering the teaching profession. She is a qualified guide for the Heart of England and is currently completing a PhD relating to the role of tour guides.

As well as supervising undergraduate dissertations, Lisa is currently teaching on the following units:

  • Introduction to tourism.
  • The management of visitor attractions.
  • Natural and cultural heritage tourism.
  • Contemporary issues in tourism.
  • International tourism research skills.

  1. Industry experience

    Lisa has experience as a tourism information officer for a local authority. Her tourism industry experience also includes a number of years as a tour manager for tour operators taking groups of tourists around the world on touring holidays.

    Lisa is interested in heritage and culture and the link with guiding. She is also interested in cross-cultural communication and interaction...

She has done research on student field trips and is interested in how travel facilitates learning about different cultures and the tourism industry itself.
