Sam is a registered mental health nurse who qualified in 2004. Post qualifying, she worked in an adult mental health rehabilitation unit and has since worked in many different mental health settings. These include an inpatient forensic adolescent unit, child and adolescent liaison psychiatry, adult community mental health and early intervention in psychosis.
Sam has a keen interest in psychological therapies and has studied dialectical behavioural therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy both of which she has used throughout her career.
Sam has always been passionate about teaching and has previously worked in medical education as a learning facilitator for medical students while they are on their psychiatry attachment. Within her role in liaison psychiatry at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, Sam has enhanced the mental health training for child health staff.
