Biography

Sarah graduated from Brighton University with a BA (Hons) in 3D Interior Design, and then went on to gain a PGCE in Design and Technology. Sarah gained a Masters in Interior Design from Portsmouth University in 2013 and has just embarked on a PhD focusing on the area of sustainability and interior design.

For the last seven years Sarah has been an associate lecturer at Southampton Solent University and is now the course leader for the BA (Hons) Interior Design programme.

Industry experience

  • Four years within an architectural practice as a commercial interior designer.
  • Nineteen years teaching experience in related subjects to architecture and interior design.
  • Ten years of experience running a small interior space planning business.
  • Member of SBID (Society of British and International design).
  • Member of BIID (British Institute of Interior Design).

Research interests

  • Sustainable daylighting systems providing light into deep core office buildings and interior spaces.
  • Interior environments relating to issues of the health and well-being of occupants.
  • The use of large areas of glazing for iconic buildings and the sustainable implications it creates.

Work in progress

Smart working facilities and research for sustainable office and educational working interior environments.  Creating interiors for the health and wellbeing of occupants.
