After a year working as a trainee engineer for the BBC in Bristol, Sean studied for his BSc (Hons) in physical electronics at the University of Warwick. Returning to the BBC he worked for five years as part of the team responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of technical facilities, specialising in video studio, graphics and post-production systems. After a year on attachment to production operations, working on local news and national documentary programmes, Sean joined the teaching team at Southampton Institute as a broadcast technology specialist.

In 2002, he returned to the broadcast industry as technology manager for the GWR Group (later GCap Media) where he was responsible for the team that looked after 18 local and national FM and DAB radio stations from sites in Bristol and Cardiff. In 2006, Sean moved back to Southampton to bolster the media technology teaching team and help develop new and relevant courses. He also designed many of the University’s technical facilities, such as the HD video system for the OB vehicle and the IP networked radio studios.

Sean led the media technology team for a number of years before recently taking on a new role developing innovative education and training courses for the broadcast industry.
