Biography

For the past 15 years, Diogo has been building a career in digital communication and technology-enhanced learning in both academic and professional fields.

After ten years at the University of São Paulo (Brazil), as content coordinator and knowledge management in interactive tele-education in the discipline of telemedicine, he moved to AOSpine Latin America as education project manager. This experience has provided the variety of skills needed to deliver high quality works in education, innovation, and communication in health education.

Diogo’s PhD in Science (telehealth and tele-education) from the University of São Paulo was applied in the development of a 15-episode TV show broadcast on national television in Brazil. In this show he was also acknowledged as screenwriter due to his background in media communication, a field in which he holds a master's in multimedia (film studies), and two degrees in communication (film and journalism), as well as strong experience in teaching and academic research.

His present research is based on the development of innovation models for health education, mainly supported by communication and technology tools. His aim is to increase knowledge and expertise, delivering outstanding educational outcomes through high level communication design.

Research interests

Diogo’s research focuses on developing innovative educational models in health-related areas, aimed at undergraduate students, students of key stages 3 and 4, and general population interested in health matters. With an emphasis on interactive educational technologies for health education, he aims to optimise resources, improve students’ engagement, and increase knowledge retention, as well as offering new educational and communication tools for both students and lecturers.
