Tom Holdway, Lecturer

Biography

Tom has over 10 years' experience working at sea on various types of passenger vessel. He began his career as an engine cadet on cruise vessels.

After gaining further experience and working on ro-pax ferries and superyachts, Tom achieved a Chief Engineer Unlimited Certificate of Competency while studying at Solent University to gain a bachelor’s in marine engineering and management.

Tom has been fortunate to have sailed on many different voyages all over the world, the most notable of which involved transiting the Northwest Passage.

Now training the next generation of engineering seafarers at Solent, Tom is passionate in helping others to progress in their careers and achieve their full potential.

During the last three years at Solent, he has completed a PgCert in Learning and Teaching, and is now working toward an MSc.
