Thinking about progressing your career? Here at Warsash Maritime School, we have tailored lots of courses to the specific needs of the seafaring community, from short and online courses to top-up degrees that allow you to study whilst carrying on working.

We believe in giving seafarers the (academic) credit they deserve! That’s why we recently approved top-ups that account for the hard study that seafarers already undertake for their 2^nd CoC.

The new option allows you to obtain a degree in BSc (Hons) Maritime Sciences or BEng (Hons) Maritime Engineering at the same time as meeting your CoC requirements.

The additional modules can either be studied on campus or remotely and part-time while continuing to sail as a senior officer. It is incredibly time and cost-effective.

Top up degrees being taught at St Marys

PGDip International Trade and Maritime Law

For those who already hold a second CoC, this fantastic and popular one-year distance-learning course is taught by a multitude of renowned legal practitioners, including experienced academic and industry speaker, Susan Hawker.

It’s essential for those who want to work in commercial or legal shipping practice. The course focuses on the legal frameworks at the heart of shipping claims, disputes and commercial relationships.

To enable you to continue learning during the pandemic, we have made several courses available through online delivery. These include courses for engineers, yacht deck, STCW safety and security, leadership and management, and postgraduate courses.

Our facilities are tailored to match those you’ll be using out at sea. We’ve invested heavily in fulfilling the training needs required and are particularly proud of our new multi-million-pound maritime simulation suite which includes: 9 full mission bridges, ECDIS suites, crane simulators, engine room simulators, HV simulators, GMDSS suites, LICOS simulators, DP and much more. Our specialist facilities also include a fire school, marine engineering and specialist ETO workshops, helicopter underwater escape trainer, medical training centre, survival craft, seamanship centre and our world-renowned manned model ship handling centre.
