Solent supports Greg's success
Solent alumni Greg Bridet is on the way up, forging a successful boxing career with the help of the Solent High Performance Athletes Centre.
Following a potentially career threatening injury, Greg has been able to get back to training hard this year and has fought his way back to the ring, where he recently retained his ABA English Heavyweight belt.
Greg, who graduated in 2013 after studying a HND in Business and Management, has continued to train in Solent’s performance gym and has received support from the High Performance Athletes team, which has helped him get back to fitness and prepared him to fight again.
It was for these reasons that Greg was presented with the Alumni Award at Solent’s Sports Awards. This is a new award, given to a graduate who has continued to excel in their sport and has achieved success in the past season.
Greg says: “The training at Solent has been incredible – second to none – and the facilities are great.
Winning the award felt really good; it meant a lot to get some recognition, as I’ve achieved so much with the support of Solent.”
Later this year, Greg hopes to move up from his amateur career and become a professional boxer.
