Recruitment role for football and business student
Football studies and business final year student, Karl Sharman, has been appointed as head of recruitment at League Two Club AFC Wimbledon. Karl, who has become the youngest person to assume this role at a professional football club in England, will be responsible for the Club's recruiting strategy which will extend to both the Club's academy and senior teams. Speaking about his degree and how it prepared him for the role, Karl said: "I have had to tackle many challenges to push the club's recruitment strategy forward. The experience I have learnt from Southampton Solent has helped to developed my understanding of the football industry, while also allowing me to adapt to different situations. The Football Studies and Business Course allowed me to develop the strategy at the AFC Wimbledon and improve the reputation of what the Club is doing to recruit the best players from London and the surrounding counties. The course was one of the pivotal reasons I secured the job as it gave me the knowledge and experience I needed for the role."
