House of Lords visit for LMCFR director

Centre director, Dr Richard Elliott, was guest of Lord Herman Ouseley, the Chairman of Kick It Out, at a private reception held in the Peers Dining Room of the House of Lords this week. The reception was held to mark the launch of Kick It Out's new education programme, which Richard is working on in conjunction with the organisation charged with the responsibility of tackling discrimination in all its forms in football. Speaking about the event Richard said: "I'm privileged to have been invited to attend at the House of Lords today and delighted to be working with Kick It Out. Their work is absolutely fundamental in changing attitudes at every level of the game. With a remit that extends well beyond the confines of racial discrimination, Kick It Out's task is a difficult one. I'm very much looking forward to developing education programmes with them that can result in significant change in the game."

Final year student takes up new post at AFC Bournemouth

Final year Football Studies student and UEFA B licensed coach, Richard Knox, has been appointed as Under-14 coach at AFC Bournemouth's academy. Previously the Under-8 coach at Southampton FC's academy, Richard is relishing the opportunity to work with older players as this fits with his aspirations to take his UEFA A license in the near future.  Richard said of his new role: "This fantastic opportunity was presented to me via Solent University. My tutor for our coaching practical, Kevin Braybrook, who is a Pro License coach and first team scout for Wolverhampton Wanderers, was contacted by AFC Bournemouth and asked to recommend potential coaches. Kevin recommended me and now I am going into my final year at university as a youth development phase academy coach. Another fantastic opportunity presented to me via Solent University."
