Jennifer Glastonbury

Independent Governor

Board of Governors

Role at Solent

Jennifer joined the Board of Governors in August 2016, and is currently a member of the Resources Committee.

Born in Southampton, Jennifer graduated from London University with a modern languages degree and went on to work at the BBC, ending up as a senior editor in multimedia foreign news.  In parallel with her BBC career, Jennifer held board appointments in the NHS, including as Vice-Chair of a Berkshire trust.

She is keenly interested in higher education and before coming to Solent served on the governing bodies of two other universities- the University for the Creative Arts, and Royal Holloway and Bedford New College (RHBNC) where she was elected to the Council by College alumni.  She served actively on the key board committees in both and had a strong presence at events involving students and stakeholders.  In 2014 she was made an honorary fellow of RHBNC.

Jennifer lives in Camberley and is Chair of RHL, a local healthy living charity which was a finalist in the Baudouin Foundation’s EU Social Innovation in Ageing Awards in 2014.

Jennifer enjoys travel, textiles and art. She has travelled widely in the former Soviet Union and lectured in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, in 2003.
