Biography
Jamil is a research fellow at Solent University’s Learning and Teaching Institute (SLTI) and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His role at Solent is primarily to develop academics’ understanding of research-based teaching and help them embed the approach for facilitating meaningful learning.
His professional experiences include working in BRAC, the world’s largest development organisation; Bangladesh Ministry of Education; BRAC University in Bangladesh, British Council, and the University of Southampton.
He completed his MLitt in English Language Teaching at the University of St Andrews and PhD in Education at the University of Southampton. His doctoral thesis was a critical realist study of professional development linked to iPad usage among rural Bangladeshi teachers.

Jamil's research interests are centred on the aspects of higher education pedagogy. Examples include research-informed teaching, internationalisation of curricula, educational context evaluation, simulation, and learner autonomy.
