Welcome to the Warsash Maritime School.
Phases one, three and five of your officer cadet academic education and training programmes will be mostly based out of the main campus at East Park Terrace in Southampton. Once you’ve registered on the course you will have access to your timetable detailing exactly where to go.
East Park Terrace campus
Solent's East Park Terrace (EPT) campus is where you can take full advantage of all the facilities on offer: sports complex, Students' Union events, IT resources, and food outlets and cafés. The library also has extensive nautical reference material for your studies. You’ll be based at EPT for all your academic classes, and some of your short courses.
The East Park Terrace campus is home to the maritime simulation centre, the UK’s largest ship and port simulation centre with eight full-mission bridges, a full-mission engine and high voltage simulator, four multi-purpose desk simulation classrooms, and two GMDSS radio communication suites. Later, in phases 3 and 5, you will attend courses in the simulation centre as part of your cadetship.
The East Park Terrace campus is also home the newly opened Solent Maritime and Research Technology (SMART) Centre. The SMART Centre has an extensive range of marine engineering facilities, including advanced manufacturing, ships engine, and specialist electronic navigation laboratories, where all engineer and marine electro-technical officer cadets complete their workshop skills training and assessments.
Safety training centre at the Warsash campus
All your practical safety training courses are held at our waterside campus at Warsash, which is around 11 miles from Southampton. This includes all your mandatory basic and advanced STCW courses in firefighting, maritime safety, personal and offshore survival, and medical certification. Transport to the Warsash campus will be arranged by the School to and from your accommodation in Southampton.
Accommodation
Officer cadets are offered accommodation in the Chantry and Deanery halls of residence for phase 1 - these halls are a 15-minute walk to the EPT campus. The residences are reserved for Warsash cadets and offer single study-bedrooms with or without en-suite, and fully-equipped kitchen-diners. All student residences have WiFi. Cadets returning to phase 3 and 5 can apply to stay in the student residences or seek private accommodation.
