In his latest public lecture Professor Roger Brown, former Vice-Chancellor of Southampton Solent University explored how economic inequality is the greatest challenge facing western industrial societies.

After climate change, increasing economic inequality is the greatest challenge facing the western industrial societies. It was a major element in the Brexit vote and in the populist election campaigns of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump.

Staff, students and the local community joined Roger in exploring how the higher education market should respond to inequality. From enabling society to understand the issues surround economic inequality, to ensuring that the curriculum enables the development of socially responsible leaders, a number of opinions were put forward as to the role of higher education.
