Buying and merchandising students attended Première Vision, the world’s largest fabric fair, in Paris earlier this year.

BA (Hons) Fashion Buying and Merchandising, BA (Hons) Fashion Management with Marketing and BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion and Communication students brushed shoulders with exhibitors from 57 countries at the fair, and attended talks and presentations on a range of buying and merchandising topics.

For the rest of the three-day trip, students were free to take in the sights of Paris as they chose.

Student Jasmin Cunningham says: “This trip was a wonderful opportunity not only explore the city, but to gain industry experience.”

Barry Batson, Lecturer of Fashion Management and Marketing, who organised the trip, adds: “This is the first time students have had the opportunity to attend the Premier Vision trade show. We’d like to offer this as a trip every second year so it can alternate with the Pitti Filati, Yarn and Trends fashion trade show in Florence, Italy.

“This would mean students get the opportunity to visit both important trade shows during their three years of study at Solent.”
