About the 'Leading in the digital age' business conference

Here, Southampton Solent University Business School write about their recent conference, ‘Leading in the digital age’.


In the words of Cailean Hargrave “Prepare to be amazed by the endless possibilities the digital age brings”.

Feedback showed “It was great to see a real mix of students, academics and businesses attending and it really added to the success of the event. The wide variety of topics discussed were really interesting and it gave a lot to think about.”

The afternoon was a roaring success, with a combination of guest speakers, interactive workshops, mock law trails and exhibition stands.

The event covered: Bloomberg technology, social media marketing, intellectual property, digital marketing strategies, cyber security, digital software, on-line business consultancy and was labelled by guests as “a spectacular event!”

The evening session graced us with Dr Liz Jackson’s (Great Guns Marketing) incredible insight into the creation of an on-line presence sharing her outlook on LinkedIn as a great business tool.

Amanda Davidson-Young (NewsQuest) gave a flying visit into her busy schedule sharing how to be a digital leader on-line.

Meanwhile, Luke Hull (Mandiant) opened our eyes to the shocking world of cyber security and how to protect your business.

Finally, Cailean Hargrave (IBM) left us all in stitches showcasing his disruptive presence in the digital world today; he shared IBM’s incredible accomplishments changing the world as we know it and left us all considering how technology and the digital world can be used to our advantage.
