Dr Kate Pike travels to Colombia to attend workshop on climate change
Maritime and Technology Faculty researcher, Dr Kate Pike, has recently returned from a four-day workshop, Interdisciplinarity to face climate change in coastal areas, held in Santa Marta, Columbia, where she presented a paper on implications and issues arising from climate change.
Funded by The British Council, the workshop brought together early careers researchers from environmental sciences, social and economic sciences, law and international affairs as part of the British Council Research Links’ scheme*.
As a senior research fellow (marine and environment), Kate welcomed the opportunity to debate climate change issues in relation to the coast, share ideas and best practice and hear about current research on the topic. The workshop also encouraged participants to collaborate in developing related projects for 2015 and beyond.
*A scheme that provides early career researchers across 20 countries with the opportunity to form international connections through fully-funded workshops and travel grants. Since the launch in 2013, thousands of researchers from across the various countries have benefited from the scheme.
