Msc Applied Acoustics at Solent
Southampton Solent’s new MSc Applied Acoustics degree has been granted official accreditation by the Institute of Acoustics (IoA), the UK’s professional body for those working in acoustics, noise and vibration – recognising the practical industry-focused teaching, state-of-the-art facilities and strong business links the University delivers.
Designed to provide the skills and knowledge to work in a range of acoustics fields – including consultancy, engineering, environmental health and the built environment – this practical master’s targets the specific skills needed by industry.
Formal partnerships and strong links with business, including KP Acoustics and ACCON, help support students in learning professional practice and provide invaluable work placement opportunities.
The degree is designed to meet the requirements for professional IoA registration, and offers partial credit for students who already hold e IoA Diploma – enabling them to gain the MSc in one year through part-time study.
Dr Chris Barlow, Reader in Acoustics at Southampton Solent University says, “Accreditation by the Institute adds significant value to the MSc, as it provides professional recognition of the quality of the course offered, as well as enabling graduates to apply for professional registration when the degree is complete.”
