Premier League youngsters choose Solent

Five young players whose professional careers at Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Stoke City and Queens Park Rangers have come to an end, have swapped their boots for books as they began their degree courses at Solent this year. Keen to help those youngsters that don't make it in the professional game, the Premier League is working with a selection of UK universities to offer higher education opportunities to young players who have the necessary qualifications. Having invited Solent University to be part of this small group, Mark Scarbrow, the Premier League's careers adviser, commented: "Solent's excellent academic provision, FA-accredited sports ground and extensive football industry links were a key factor in deciding to ask them to be part of this important initiative." It is hoped that the relationship formed with the Premier League in this capacity will result in further players choosing Solent as they seek to kickstart new careers in the game.
