What does BASE endorsement mean for sports degrees?
Sam Rylands MCIM Chartered Marketer, Marketing Coordinator for Solent’s sport courses, explains what a BASES endorsement means for the sports science and sports coaching degrees.
Our BSc (Hons) Applied Sport Science and BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching degrees were recently awarded a prestigious endorsement from the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES). As BASES is the recognised standard for all sport and exercise science undergraduate courses in the UK, we’re really proud to have been endorsed.
For me, the best thing about the endorsement is the benefit to you, our students, who can be sure that our courses provide a high quality learning experience and access to a whole range of resources and opportunities during your time at Solent.
Talking recently to our some of our Applied Sport Science and Sport Coaching students, I was really impressed with their dedication to their course and the vast array of work experience and placements they had undertaken both in the lab and in the field to really enhance their CVs.
They’d taken advantage of our array of state-of-the-art facilities and sport science laboratories as well as the most extensive National Governing Body coach education programme in English higher education (which you can find out more about by checking out our coaching week video).
Having an impressive CV is fantastic and essential for graduates nowadays, but even more importantly, our students consistently rate our courses highly and we’ve been in the National Student Survey’s top three UK health, exercise and sport science courses for overall student satisfaction for three years running (2011, 2012, 2013).
Bottom line is you have to enjoy your university experience to get the most out of it. And now our students have another reason to be happy at Solent; BASES-accredited degrees which will give you the required level of technical knowledge and understanding for full BASES accreditation. That’s enough to put a smile on your face.
