Solent University has attained UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) University Clean Sport Accreditation after demonstrating its ongoing commitment to providing students, staff and coaches with essential anti-doping education and support.

UKAD ensures sports bodies in the UK are compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code through implementation and management of the UK’s national anti-doping policy.

As one of only seven higher education institutions in the UK to receive accreditation, Solent University is recognised by the national governing body for its positive work in promoting the ethos of clean sport through their culture, policies, practices, research and education.

“We are delighted to be recognised as a UKAD Clean Sport Accredited institution,” says Kelly Jones, Athlete Support Officer and UKAD Educator.

“The Clean Sport Accreditation recognises the positive work we have done in promoting the clean sport message and UKAD now identify us as providing students, staff and the wider community with essential anti-doping education - and a clean sport environment in which to learn, train and compete clean.

“We have been working on this accreditation for the past year which has required a detailed portfolio of evidence, including a having a dedicated anti-doping officer, providing education delivery to performance clubs, compulsory training for our sports coaches and Solent Sport staff, a new Clean Sport policy for all Solent Sports Complex users, and a clean sport commitment statement visible on a dedicated web page

“Having the accreditation highlights our commitment to clean sport to the university community and increases our reputation as one of the few universities with this award. Alongside our Dual Career accreditation, this makes us an attractive choice for potential students for both recreational and performance sport.”
