Students awarded for excellence in architectural technology
Students win big at #ATAwards 2017
BA (Hons) Architectural Design and Technology alumni, Edward Kercher and April Rapley, were named as winners at the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists’ (CIAT) 2017 Architectural Technology Awards.
Edward Kercher took home the ‘Student Award for Excellence in Architectural Technology’ for his designs of a new Gateway Hotel in Woolston, Southampton: “The entire experience at the AT Awards was invaluable. The room was full of professionals from across the architectural industry and it allowed me to network with people I may not have otherwise had the opportunity to meet.”
Graduate April Rapley received a high commendation for her re-design of the Chandler’s Ford Infant School. She says: “The industry recognition is incredible, I've really enjoyed my time at university so to receive an award for my work really is the icing on top of the cake of an amazing three years.”
Solent Head of Architecture and Design Practice, Sarah Radif, adds: “It is wonderful to see not just one, but two Solent Architectural Technology students clinching first and second place at the CIAT Architectural Technology Awards. To be recognised at such a prestigious event is a true endorsement of the standard of the course, and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.”
