BA (Hons) Computer and Video Games student Shannon Symonds has received a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet, an Amiibo, a possible job interview with Sumo Digital, and more after winning Grads in Games’ Search for a Star competition.

Shannon created her peacock knight for the character art category, based on the medieval era and drawing on inspiration from games and films such as Skyrim and Dark Souls. One of the judges commented: “Superb! I took notes.”

Shannon says: “I couldn’t believe it when they said my name! The judges said they liked my portfolio as a whole, thought my work had a painterly feel and that I went above and beyond any concept artwork I based my artwork on.

“Now the competition organisers will be helping me to apply for jobs while I finish up my final major project as well as complete some client work.”

Shannon has also won Substance indie licences, a few games, an art book, and a £50 Game voucher.
