Biography

Matthew is a senior lecturer at Southampton Solent University and teaches on a number of physical education and sports coaching units. He is unit leader for PE in practice, PE teaching essentials and  coaching talented children in sport.

Matthew studied at the University as an undergraduate, when it was known as Southampton Institute. He obtained an HND in leisure studies before completing a BA (Hons) in sport studies with business in 2001. He then gained a PGCE at the University of Portsmouth in 2002 and achieved full qualified teacher status the following year whilst teaching in an inner city comprehensive school. Whilst teaching full time in schools and colleges Matthew completed his MA in education with a focus on inclusion, behaviour, SEN and leadership.

Away from work, Matthew can often been found competing in marathons, ultra-marathons and long distance triathlon, Matthew enjoys spending a busy life with his wife and two daughters.
