Georgi Ivanov is a lecturer and unit leader in marketing and management studies in the sport and outdoor management-related degrees in the School of Sport, Health and Social Sciences. With over 17-years of industry experience, Georgi was invited to join the Southampton Solent University teaching team in 2016.
He was awarded his BA (Hons) Sport Studies with Business and MA Marketing Management, both from Southampton Solent University with distinction. Georgi holds the AXELOS project management certificate PRINCE2®. Georgi is also a qualified coach Level 1 in Volleyball and Football by 1st4Sport and the FA.
Georgi continues to work as a marketing a business consultant - some of his strategic management and marketing projects include: celebrity endorsements and sponsorship, book publishing, software development.
Georgi’s key interests are strategic management and marketing in the sport, leisure and outdoor industry.
With over 17 years' work experience in the private, public sector and volunteer sector, Georgi has worked as an owner and managing director, project manager, warehouse manager, management assistant, and a team leader.
He has led international and diverse teams and projects in marketing, education, sport advertisements, hospitality, sales and warehouse management. Georgi’s main industry experience is in the sport, leisure and outdoor industry with a customer service focus. This accounts for over 12 years.
Georgi continues to work as a management and marketing consultant for various companies in and outside the UK, in areas as celebrities' advertisement and sponsorship, software development, book publishing and customer service management.
Georgi’s key research interests are in customer service, strategic management, and marketing solutions in the sport, leisure and outdoor industry; organisational and operational management solutions; and software development.
Georgi’s teaching experience dates back to 2015 when he was invited to become Solent University’s students' mentor due to his industry and academic achievements. Georgi was also appointed to lead and manage in association with Southampton City Council and Solent University in an innovative digital literacy project, when he created and applied the programme to three Southampton based primary schools in cooperation with Solent University undergraduates.
Georgi is also an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Georgi is currently working on research on customer satisfaction through organisational culture change; a consultancy project on sport celebrity endorsement for charity and sponsorship; and a consultancy project on software development.
