Biography

Nancy holds a PhD in International Law with a strain of International Relations from the University of Portsmouth. She graduated with a postgraduate degree in Law (LLM International Law) from the University of the West of England, Bristol, and a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA Strategic Management) from Daystar University, Kenya, as well as an undergraduate law degree (LLB) from Moi University, Kenya.

Nancy is a qualified attorney, having been admitted to the Kenyan bar as an Advocate of the High Court, with over 13 years’ experience in the legal profession.

She is a certified teacher possessing an Apex Pathway Foundation Certificate by the University of Portsmouth, the initial professional development towards Descriptor 1 of the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and supporting learning in Higher Education (UKPSF), and on track to gaining a Fellowship of Higher Education Academy aligned to Descriptor 2 of the UK Professional Standards Framework.

She is a member of the Society of Legal Scholars, UK with certification in Public Private Partnerships (Contract Structuring Techniques) from the IP3 Institute in Virginia, Arlington USA.

Nancy's work experience spans cumulatively over 13 years in the legal industry, in different sectors: UK higher education sector, state corporation, and law firm practice.

She has previously worked as a contractual lecturer at the University of the West of England, Bristol; a researcher in international law at the University of Portsmouth; as well as a lecturer in law at the ICP (University of Portsmouth). In these roles, she actively took part in research and teaching inter alia international law, human rights law, constitutional law, equity and trusts, as well as foundations of legal research.

Prior to this, Nancy headed the legal affairs department of a Kenyan state corporation tourism fund where she dealt with both local and international law matters, prosecution of matters on behalf of the corporation, board of trustees’ company secretarial work, as well as offering general guidance on the requisite law and liaising with relevant government agencies and the external panel of lawyers.

She has also worked as an associate advocate at Miller & Company Advocates where her work involved litigation, as well as conveyancing practice.
