Biography

Trish Morris joined Solent University from the BBC and has over 40 years' experience in the television and film industry. She started her career as a 3rd assistant wardrobe director at the Royal Opera House. Trish then moved to Thames Television as an administrative assistant and then to Humphries Film Laboratories as a 35mm neg prep assistant. She trained at the BBC as a trainee assistant film editor and continued to work for them as an assistant film editor working on programs that included Colditz, Dr Who and the Onedin Line. After leaving the BBC Trish freelanced as an editor for the BBC and several independent film production companies. She joined Television South in Southampton as a senior editor and then a supervisory editor. Trish was responsible for supervising and editing the Television South award winning series Countryways and Taste of the South.

When Television South lost the franchise to Meridian, Trish freelanced as an editor and director working for ITN, ITV, BBC, HTV, Meridian and Sky. She was then asked to join BBC South as a senior technical operator. Although her craft skill is editing, she retrained with the BBC as a graphic operator, hub operator, OB floor manager, video journalist and completed the BBC single camera directors training. Trish has also produced and directed programs for BBC Inside Out.

She is experienced in 35mm and 15mm film editing, Lightworks, Quantel, Premiere CC, Final Cut 7, Final Cut 10 and Avid and is an Avid accredited instructor in Avid Media Composer.

Trish is an active member of the American Cinema Editors, the Guild of British Film and Television Editors , BAFTA and a Fellow of the Higher Eduction Academy. She also created and runs Solentpost.
