ApprenticeshipEmbedded Electronic Systems Design and Development Engineer (Degree) Apprenticeship

Starting in: 2027

Course overview

Working in the electronics or engineering industry? Looking to take your career higher? Our electronic engineering degree apprenticeship, professionally accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), is your chance to develop your specialist skills and knowledge – and earn a degree while you work – and turn these interests into a lucrative and engaging career.

During your studies, you'll investigate core themes across digital electronics, embedded systems, automation and control, electronic instrumentation, and circuit design - developing a deep understanding of the principles and practices that underpin real engineering solutions across industries from aerospace and automotive to consumer technology and telecommunications.

As the programme progresses, you'll be taught how to design, analyse, build, and test electronic systems, supported by research-active staff and industry partners through live briefs, real-world case studies, and applied projects.

Practice-led learning is embedded throughout -  you'll be working in the specialist facilities of the SMART Centre using industry-standard tools, equipment, and simulation environments that mirror contemporary engineering practice.
