Biography

Brent is Head of Visual Communication, Fashion and Applied Arts and is responsible for overseeing the operational running of the Southampton School of Art, Design and Fashion. He is the Strategic Lead for Internationalisation within the Faculty of Creative Industries, Architecture and Engineering and has oversight of the faculty’s operations for recruitment and student/staff exchange programs across Europe and the Far East, as well as the school’s franchised courses in Portugal, China and India.

He has over 23 years of teaching experience across a range of creative undergraduate and postgraduate courses, both here in the UK and internationally. This, combined with extensive industry knowledge accumulated over a 25-year career in the creative sector, has been used to deliver a both vocational and meaningful student experience, leading to innovative curriculum transformation for courses, both undergraduate and postgraduate.

Brent is an experienced external examiner, Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an artist, creative director, and practice-based-research scholar.
