Debra joined Solent in October 2014 and teaches on the Music Promotion, Music Management, and Popular Music Journalism degree courses. She also tutors final year students across their individual and collaborative group projects.

She is an experienced media and communications professional who runs the Shoreditch based consultancy Great Northern PR. Her past and present clients include Universal Music Catalogue, Walt Disney Records, Red Bull Music House, Omnibus Press and Music Sales, the BPI (British Phonographic Industries) and Abbey Road Studios. She also specialises in fixed term consulting for PR companies who require senior management experience during times of business change, growth or crisis.

From 2010 – 2013 Debra was the senior publicity director at EMI Records where she strategised all artist publicity for the Parlophone, Virgin and Catalogue labels and managed an award winning team of ten publicists. Prior to that she was director of press for the EMI Catalogue label for seven years. Artists she has worked with include Daft Punk, Tinie Tempah, Bastille, Professor Green, Emeli Sande, David Guetta and The Beach Boys.
