Flavia Loscialpo PhD is a senior lecturer in fashion and MA coordinator at Solent University, UK, where she also leads the research cluster in fashion. She obtained her PhD in philosophy from Sapienza University of Rome (2008), and is alumnus of the MA Fashion Curation, London College of Fashion. She is specialised in curation, philosophy of language, aesthetics, and fashion theory, and has published internationally on deconstruction, Japanese fashion and utopian movements.
Through her curatorial practice and research, Flavia has collaborated with several institutions, among which the Barbican Centre, Victoria and Albert Museum, and the London College of Fashion. She co-curated Drawing and the Body (2011), an exchange exhibition between London College of Fashion and The Swedish School of Textiles, University of Borås, Sweden, and Flight: Drawing Interpretations (2013), a collaborative project between London College of Fashion and the National Gallery, London. Her recent research focuses on contemporary and historical avant-gardes in art, design and fashion.
Flavia has been awarded funds for post-doctoral research at King’s College London (2008-2009), Department of Philosophy and a Doctoral scholarship, by Sapienza University of Rome (2004-2008).
