Graham is an FA Licensed UEFA A and Advanced Youth Award coach, currently completing an MRes in Management. He holds a BA Honours degree in Coach Education and Sports Development from The University of Bath, and also holds QTLS status with a PGCE and experience teaching in the FE, adult, and lifelong learning sector.

As a UEFA B qualified coach in futsal, he is also an FA licensed tutor for the delivery of futsal level 1 and level 2 courses. Additionally, he is a head coach for the U19 South Regional Talent Centre which is part of the development pathway for the England futsal senior squad.

In his previous role, he oversaw the holistic development of players within the youth development phase (U12-U16) at a Premier League club’s academy. He was also responsible for the support mechanisms that help players through the transitional experience from schoolboy to the professional development phase and senior elite level football.

Industry experience

Graham was lead youth development phase coach (U12-U16) and professional development phase transition coach at AFC Bournemouth for eight years. He is also an FA licensed tutor.

Teaching experience

Graham was a lecturer in sport and exercise science at Brockenhurst College for five years.

Research interests

Graham's research interests lie in: reflection, elite youth development in football, approaches to youth development in European and worldwide football academies, importance of multisport participation in youth athletes, and talent identification in youth football.

Work in progress

MRes thesis: A multi-level analysis of 'club culture' and reflective practice within an EPPP-governed elite youth academy environment.


Graham was shortlisted for Outstanding Contribution to Youth Development at the FA Licensed Coaches Club Awards. He was also the British Colleges Sport Hall of Fame Inductee for Services to College Sport.
