Juan Battaner-Moro

A Licentiate in Theoretical Physics at Salamanca University in Spain, Juan moved to the UK to specialise in acoustics and has been working in the field since 1999. He considers himself an all-rounder, having experience in consultancy, teaching, training and research. He has held positions as a consultant at Cole Jarman, as a researcher at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (Southampton University) and currently is a senior lecturer at Solent University.

He has accumulated research experience in acoustic measurement techniques for the aerospace sector, carrying out contract research sponsored by the European Union in collaboration with Airbus, DLR, NASA, QinetiQ and Rolls-Royce. He has also carried out consultancy work in all aspects of building and environmental acoustics together with directing Solent’s acoustic laboratory work on noise and vibration testing of medical equipment, automotive parts and acoustics instrumentation.

He is course leader for the Institute of Acoustics accredited professional courses (Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control, Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement and Certificate of Competence in building acoustics measurement), and teaches in undergraduate and postgraduate courses from the media technology programme.

Juan is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a member of the Audio Engineering Society and the Institute of Acoustics, where he is currently a member of its Education Committee.

Juan's research interests include environmental and entertainment noise, speech intelligibility and acoustics measurement techniques.
