Kashif Talpur, Lecturer


Kashif is a PhD researcher and technologist with a background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, data mining, data science, neural networks, and software engineering.

He is a lecturer in computing in the Department of Science and Engineering. He joined Solent University in March 2023 and teaches artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, data science, and data analytics.

Kashif received a doctoral degree (PhD) in information technology from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Parit Raja, Malaysia in 2018. He then joined the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China as a postdoctoral researcher in 2019. He has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students since 2020 as a full-time teaching faculty.

Kashif is an experienced industry professional turned academic. He began his career in the software industry and later embarked on a journey where he found himself in research in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. While Kashif still actively consults and participates in industry focused projects, his primary areas of interest are teaching and research. He actively supervises and examines research dissertations in the area of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data mining. Kashif has made significant research contribution which has been published in prestigious research journals, as well as presented at international conferences.

Further information

Kashif is an experienced software engineer with hands-on experience from application development to maintenance to support and documentation. He worked in the software industry for seven years, and continues to practice in consultancy roles.
