Associate Lecturer

Serkan's qualifications include business management studies at the University of Hamburg/Lueneburg, a BA (Hons) and an MBA from Southampton Solent University. He is also a PRINCE2 approved trainer and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Serkan is currently the academic course leader for ACCA and is teaching on various undergraduate, postgraduate as well as professional courses in the areas of project management, economics, business and marketing, specialising in simulation and dynamic learning.
He previously worked as a knowledge transfer manager for the University and has secured the University’s first two KTP successes working under the vice chancellor's office and managed four knowledge transfer partnerships (KTPs) so far. Serkan's inspiring business acumen and international communication skills have generated contacts and courses for the University in countries such as Germany, Austria, Turkey, Nigeria and China. In addition, he created the School of Business, Law and Communication project management system and workflow called eCAP using his PRINCE2 methodology skills as an approved practitioner.
Serkan has extensive experience in business and marketing. He set up his first business by the age of 19 within the textile industry. He also started as a trainee and left as a senior consultant in one of Europe’s biggest independent financial services agencies. His experience includes mentoring start-up businesses through the SPEED programme under the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) initiative.
Serkan has bid writing skills and has shown some achievements under ERDF were he put a successful bid together and secured just over £150,000. In addition, he turned an initially failing bid into a success with HEIF and secured just under £1,000,000 over three years as well as £167,000 under the ECIF for a higher education college. Before he started his full time career as academic staff he worked as an enterprise, innovation and project manager for various higher education institutions.
