If you have your own unique visual style and want to explore a range of professional techniques, you can carve out a career in art, graphic design, web design or interior design decoration.
At Solent, we offer a range of design courses where you can study the history of visual culture in a range of contexts, and utilise a range of software to craft your creations and realise them through professional-level printing machines.
Driven by a passionate team, our art and design courses help you to develop the essential skills and industry awareness required for work in the creative industries.
For interior design decoration you will focus on surface design and decoration, spatial design and decoration, and creative styling.
With the evolution of graphic design into digital spaces you can cover everything from typography and image design to page layouts for publications, and also their application to web design, UX design and motion graphics.
The courses have strong connections with the local creative scene through our academics, and our public art gallery has been identified as a beacon of good practice in a report by the RSA on creativity in higher education institutions.
Solent offers a creative environment which gives you the freedom to explore your craft, try new ideas and techniques, and collaborate across disciplines. And to ensure you are work-ready, you can pitch for paid work with commercial clients through our in-house creative agency, Solent Creatives. Past clients include Bear Grylls, Southampton Airport and Southampton City Council.
