The modern global business landscape and contemporary geo-political challenges have shown us that resources, logistics and supply chains are more important than ever before. The discipline of logistics and supply chain management has gained greater attention in recent times, especially in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. This course is in direct response to the industry need for graduates with specialised knowledge and education in logistics management.
Throughout the course, you'll develop your understanding of modern supply chains and the issues companies face in managing them in these challenging and turbulent times. You'll also explore the issues faced by organisations in managing their logistics and be able to evaluate the impact of supply chain decisions on the success of an organisation.
On completion of the course, you'll be equipped with the necessary skills to analyse modern business logistics and supply chain challenges, and to develop value-adding sustainable strategies.

Core modules
Integrated Logistics and Supply Chain Management
The overall aim of this module is to equip you with a solid foundation in supply chains and how they contribute to business success. Supply chain management (SCM) is an approach to managing the entire supply chain involving the seamless flow of goods, services and information from suppliers to end users. During the module, you'll learn about a wide range of integrated logistics and supply chain concepts, processes and strategy through directed learning, collaborative learning and guided learning
Supply Chain Analytics
This module will equip you with a comprehensive understanding of data analytics within the context of supply chain management. In an era where global supply chains generate vast amounts of data, you'll learn how to manage, analyse, interpret, and visualise data to support decision-making in complex and uncertain environments. You'll also develop key competencies in applying analytical techniques to extract insights and communicate findings effectively to various levels of management.
Procurement and Supply Management
As businesses face increasing complexity in their operations, the strategic management of procurement has become essential. Procurement and supply management supports key objectives such as cost efficiency, ethical sourcing, supply continuity, and supplier innovation. This module will prepare future logistics professionals for this evolving landscape. It combines theoretical insights with practical application, allowing you to develop skills in areas such as strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and digital procurement tools.
Strategic Operations Management
This module will provide you with a strategic overview of operations management - the business function responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling the resources needed to produce an organisation’s goods and services. You'll gain an understanding of how to lead organisations from a strategic operations perspective in today’s marketplace, and gain theoretical and practical knowledge of key areas in strategic operations management. You'll learn specific strategies, tools and techniques of operations management that have enabled successful companies to develop competitive advantage.
Academic Skills and Career Development
This module will allow you to build a strong foundation of academic, personal and professional development skills that will ensure success in the workplace. Throughout the module you'll develop a stronger reflective awareness of what your skills are, how they can be put into action to ensure your professional success, and where improvements can be made through a clear plan of action. You'll also develop a confident grasp of the study skills you need to succeed at master's level. This is a must-pass module.
Research Methods and Final Major Project
This module gives you the opportunity to apply your research and analytical skills to an area of business or management of interest to you. The Research Methods element will develop your skills of inquiry and management research, resulting in a project proposal to be used as the basis for your final major project.
Strategic Leadership and Change
Combining theory and practice, this module will help you develop and enhance your own strategic leadership qualities. You'll gain a clear understanding of contemporary issues of leadership and will be supported towards a career in business management enabling you to apply knowledge and understanding of business and management to complex, dynamic issues and situations that will arise in your working environment.

Graduation costs
There is no charge to attend graduation, but you will be required to pay for the rental of your academic gown (approximately £45 per graduate, depending on your award). You may also wish to purchase official photography packages, which range in price from £15 to £200+. Graduation is not compulsory, so if you prefer to have your award sent to you, there is no cost. Extra guest tickets will go on sale after results publication and will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis. The cost per ticket is currently £20. Please note, we do not guarantee there will be any extra tickets available to purchase.

Note to all international students requiring a visa
All international applicants need to be aware that the English language requirements to attend Solent University, and the English language requirements to obtain a visa from the Home Office, may be different. This means that if you meet the Solent University language requirement to gain a place on the course, you may still have to meet additional requirements to be granted with a visa by the Home Office.

Your application checklist
Applications for postgraduate courses can be made at any time prior to the start of the course. However, we strongly recommend you apply at your earliest convenience.
Please ensure you upload the following mandatory documents with your application:- Two academic references.
- Certified transcripts of qualifications, including English language proficiency if non-UK student.
- Copy of passport.
- Copy of current visa (if applicable).
- A personal statement.
- Employer sponsor form, where appropriate.
Language requirements
Applicants who do not have English as their first language will be required to demonstrate an approved level of proficiency in the use of the English language. The agreed minimum requirements for this course are:
- IELTS minimum 6.5 overall with minimum of 6.0 in writing and a minimum of 5.5 in reading, listening and speaking.
- TOEFL IBT 92 with a minimum of 22 in writing and a minimum of 20 in reading, listening and speaking
- Duolingo English Language Test - 115 overall with minimum of 100 in each component
or equivalent.
Qualifications are checked before enrolment, and international students must bring their original certificates or certified copies when coming to study at the University.
Pre-Sessional English programme
The University also offers a pre-sessional English programme for international students who wish to improve their level of English before starting a degree course.
Study options
Full-time September start
Study at Solent full-time, beginning in September. This option lets you complete your qualification in the shortest possible time by taking a full study load each semester.Â
Part-time January start
Start your studies in January and spread your learning over a longer period. Ideal if you’re balancing study with work or other commitments. Starting in January instead of September gives greater flexibility if you need more time to prepare your application or arrange funding.Â
Full-time May start
Study at Solent full-time, beginning in May. As well as being able to complete your qualification in the shortest possible time by taking a full study load each semester, starting in May instead of September gives greater flexibility if you need more time to prepare your application or arrange funding.Â
