Graduate stories

Paulina's story

Paulina Batelt, 2019 graduate - Tax Analyst Deloitte UK

The first thing that I can think of is a role which optional units play on our course. The variety of options really helped me to make a decision regarding the career path I wanted to pursue. As we could learn the subject on a more advanced level every year, it made me feel confident about my knowledge of tax and apply for tax consulting.

Second thing worth giving an attention is reliability of degree resources. The innovative way of teaching, such as, lecture capture and seminar activities stimulating thinking contributed to my learning process. Lecturers having a deep industry experience and sharing it with students are also valuable assets of our degree. We could actually see how to apply the purely university-based knowledge in the real world.

Another thing would be the importance of workshops and work experience offered at Solent University (in my case: Solent TV Production). Not only did they improve my CV, but also boosted my interpersonal skills being necessary to make a good first impression on a potential interviewer and employer. I find such a mutual collaboration of different university's departments and courses remarkably useful for each student.
