Course overview

From raw footage to screen magic—this is where stories are truly made.

Solent's ScreenSkills-accredited BA (Hons) in Post Production for Film and Television transforms creative passion into professional expertise. Whether you dream of editing Netflix dramas, grading blockbuster films, or crafting motion graphics for major broadcasters, this course gives you the specialist skills, industry connections, and professional portfolio to make it happen.

You'll master the complete post-production workflow using the same professional software and facilities trusted by the screen industries—from multi-camera HD studios to high-spec Mac edit suites running Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, and industry-standard colour grading tools. Our Media Academy environment replicates real-world production workflows, while our experienced practitioner-academics bring current industry insight directly into your learning.

This isn't just about learning buttons and software. You'll develop the creative judgement that separates good editors from great ones—understanding pacing, rhythm, storytelling, and how to shape emotion frame by frame. Through hands-on projects, collaborative team productions, and progressive skill development across fiction, documentary, motion graphics, VFX, and colour grading, you'll build both technical mastery and creative confidence.

With ScreenSkills accreditation and Production Guild membership backing your qualification, plus opportunities for industry networking, work experience, and professional development workshops, you'll graduate with the portfolio, contacts, and career-ready skills that employers are actively seeking. Our graduates work across film, television, streaming platforms, and creative media—because we don't just teach post-production, we prepare you for the professional reality of the screen industries.

Our students regularly win awards for their work as well. Most recently, in 2025, students were honoured with a ‘Special Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement’ at the 2025 Royal Television Society (RTS) Southern Awards.
