  • I wanted a course that would get me into my dream job working in the football industry. All the theory for the work I do now, I learnt at Solent University.

Ben Stevens, graduate now first team performance analyst for Newcastle FC

  • This degree played a massive part in my employment in professional football, the lecturers are experienced and knowledgeable in the subject area. The theoretical and practical sides of the degree and the guest lectures are all fun and interesting yet insightful. I found that self-discipline and organisation is key. A balance between those along with the staff's extensive links can help ensure that a job in football is well within reach.

Daniel Hutchings,1st Team Performance Analyst at Barnet FC

  • My degree at Southampton Solent University definitely prepared me for this role as I gained a better knowledge and understanding of what was needed to work within a professional football club. This was down to the numerous discussions with tutors in lectures and seminars that facilitated some of the greatest and most enjoyable learning experiences I have ever received.

David Langridge, Foundation Coach at Fulham FC

  • When I applied to the Football Studies degree I had two targets to reach by graduation: complete my UEFA B coaching license and have a job at an Academy or Centre of Excellence. I accomplished both of these goals with time to spare, thanks in no small part, to the Football Studies degree and its staff.

Dominic Haynes, Academy Coach at Watford FC

  • The degree was very helpful in providing an insight into the high standards required of an individual who wishes to work in the professional football industry. The course gave me a clear understanding of the qualifications and skills I need to work in an academy environment. It has also inspired me to explore the idea of studying a postgraduate course.

Jake Stanley, Goalkeeping Coach at West Bromwich Albion FC

  • The high-level coaching I received at Solent inspired me to pursue a career in football development and management, and all the units I studied on the course, from marketing to sport psychology, gave me the confidence and skills to perform my current role.

John Salomon, graduate and FA Women's Premier League Coach of the Year 2012, Watford FC

  • The football studies degree has given me the perfect exposure to work in football and has helped me prepare to work in a wonderful industry.

Marlon Fahy graduate working at Chelsea FC

  • Football Studies has been the perfect preparation for my first full-time role in football. Coaching, management, sociology and football development all play massive parts in my role, as they did in my three years studying at Solent. The course itself, and the tutelage from all the lecturers, has provided me with a fantastic grounding on which I can build a career in football.

Scott Bratt, Head of Football Development at Crawley Town FC

  • The Football Studies degree has not only enabled me to work day-to-day within the professional football industry, it has provided me with the necessary tools to be successful in an incredibly demanding environment. Throughout my time at Southampton Solent University I was given the freedom and support to shape my own learning to my specialised career path.

Tom Fawdry, graduate now head of academy goalkeeping at Portsmouth FC

  • Many people outside of the degree doubted my decision to study Football Studies. Since graduating I have a fully-established company that envisions the next step towards enhanced child development through football. Without the knowledge I gained from the course there would be little chance of making this dream possible.

Ben Doyle, Owner and Director at Soccerkidz Limited
