Introduction to Business

Introduction to Marketing and Consumer Law

Effective marketing allows businesses to develop sustainable and valuable relationships with their audiences. Exploring real-world case studies, this module covers introductory marketing theories alongside branding, customer insight and data, GDPR, consumer rights and the latest innovations.

Introduction to Law

Understand the nature and sources of law and key concepts underlying legal systems. This module will look at the English legal system, consider the different courts and their functions, legal personnel and the legislative process.

Understanding Finance

Understanding finance requirements is key to ensuring a business thrives. You will learn fundamental terms and concepts, such as key performance indicators (KPIs), regulation, cashflow, financial statements and accountability – ensuring you are an asset to your team.

Business or Law Project

Work Placement

Placement students are highly employable. Work placements supercharge your CV, making you stand out in the job market. They let you test-drive careers, gain invaluable experience, and develop professional skills. You'll be more competitive for graduate roles and ready to apply new concepts and knowledge to excel in your final year.

Study Abroad

Studying abroad gives business students a global perspective, cultural intelligence, and adaptability - qualities highly valued by employers. It builds confidence, expands professional networks, and enhances communication skills. Exposure to international markets and diverse business practices prepares graduates to thrive in global roles and stand out in a competitive job market.

Placement year

Work experience is an essential part of the degree, and a key part of what employers want from graduates. That’s why we offer options to undertake a short-term placement in the second year, or for a full year between the second and third years. While students are expected to source their own work placements, support is provided as tailored to your aspirations. You can undertake work placement anywhere in the UK or even study abroad, in any business-related role. Previous work placements include roles in France, Cyprus, Australia, South Africa and the USA. Many of our student receive graduate job offers or further part time work as a result of their placements.

Through this module, you'll learn how to manage and optimise global supply chains through an understanding of the roles, activities, inter-connected processes, and relationships of global supply chain actors.

Cyber Security Incident Response

Be prepared for the unexpected. This module will equip you with the skills to detect, manage, and recover from cyber attacks. Learn how to lead incident response teams, protect business assets, and ensure business continuity in an increasingly digital world.

Consultancy Project

The consultancy project lets you lead your own research into a real world business issue of personal or professional interest. Develop critical thinking, problem solving, and consultancy skills while showcasing your initiative and creativity. Tackle real challenges and boost your employability with a project that sets you apart.

Real World Skills in Action: Mastery Unleashed

This module is crucial for aspiring leaders and managers, offering the chance to manage complex activities and gain significant responsibilities. It enhances management and leadership skills, supports professional growth, and provides valuable work experience. By utilising your part-time job, you can balance work and study effectively, adding real value to your CV. To gain the credit for this module you will need to undertake 40 hours of employment across the semester.
